As part of the Stockport Support Hub, we organise and provide journeys for adults in Stockport who struggle to use public transport, to places such as doctors, dentists, social groups, visiting, hairdressers and some day centres.

FAQs
The office is open 9:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday to take calls for bookings and cancellations. The contact number is 0161 476 2812. Volunteer drivers work flexible hours.
Stockport Car Scheme drivers are volunteers, who give their time for free. They use their own vehicles and are not taxi drivers. Clients will be informed of how much the journey will cost when booking your journey. Your volunteer driver will wait at the destination for up to 60 minutes. Should your appointment last longer than this, you will need to make the office aware when booking, your volunteer driver will return to collect you later, and the contribution amount will differ from a 60-minute drive as it would be a double journey.
Stockport Car Scheme takes bookings on a first come first served basis so you should phone us as soon as you know about your appointment. Ideally, we need at least a week’s notice but, where possible, we will try to accommodate late bookings. Stockport Car Scheme never guarantees that it will provide a driver. Drivers are volunteers and sometimes there may be no driver available for your journey. There may also be occasions where your journey has to be cancelled but this will be in emergencies only, e.g. car breakdowns, illness or bad weather.
As our drivers are volunteers and use their own cars, we do not transport anyone with incontinence, or anyone with severe dementia. Please do not smoke or eat in the driver’s car. All drivers have an ID badge which they wear. If you are unsure about any driver who comes to your house, please call our office. If you need to cancel your transport, please telephone 0161 476 2812 as soon as possible. A friend or relative is welcome to accompany you on your journey, but please state this when booking your transport.
